MaryRose Mazzola, Chief of Staff
MaryRose Mazzola is our Chief of Staff. A Merrimack Valley native, MaryRose grew up in Chelmsford and met Senator Finegold while she was a student at Merrimack College. After running Senator Finegold’s successful 2012 campaign and working in his State House office, she went on to receive her Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School. After graduation, she served as Executive Director of the Boston Women’s Workforce Council, a public-private partnership with the City of Boston working to close the gender wage gap, for two and a half years. MaryRose manages the staff, interns and daily office operations, advises Senator Finegold on legislation and the state budget, and directs press relations and communications. She is passionate about better preventing and responding to domestic violence and sexual assault and is currently pursuing her law degree to fight gender-based violence. In her free time, MaryRose enjoys traveling, live music, hiking the White Mountains, and spending time with her husband and French bulldog. Ross Peterson, Legislative Director & General Counsel
Ross is our Legislative Director and General Counsel. Ross grew up in Salem and has been involved in Massachusetts state politics since college. He received his bachelor’s degree in government from Connecticut College and his law degree from Harvard Law School. While in law school he served as a legal intern for US Senator Ed Markey and State Senator Eric Lesser. Prior to joining Senator Finegold’s office, Ross was a tax associate in Goodwin Procter’s Boston office. Outside of work, Ross is an avid cyclist and craft beer snob. Chanel Rossi, Constituent Services Director
Chanel Rossi is our Director of Constituent Services. A Florida native, Chanel grew up in Miami and studied Health Services Administration at Florida International University. After graduation, she moved to Boston to pursue a law degree at New England Law Boston. Chanel is excited to begin her career at the State House and serve the constituents of the 2nd Essex and Middlesex district. She will be the primary office contact for any constituents who need help accessing state services or benefits. Chanel comes from a Puerto Rican background and is fluent in Spanish so can assist constituents in English or Spanish. Tom Mahoney, Legislative Aide
Tom Mahoney is our office's Legislative Aide. Tom is from Minneapolis, MN and graduated from Tufts University in May of 2018 with a degree in Political Science. He served as Field Director on our campaign before joining our State House team. As Legislative Aide, Tom runs the front desk of our office, works with our Chief of Staff on scheduling and events, manages our social media pages, staffs Senator Finegold at events and meetings in the district, and helps resolve constituent cases. Tom is passionate about finding ways to make college affordable for everyone, no matter what their socioeconomic status. Marina Gil Acosta, District Director
Marina Acosta serves as our District Director. She is a native of the Dominican Republic and longtime resident of the City of Lawrence. Marina met Senator Finegold in 2012 during his initial State Senate race. Marina has over 15 years of extensive experience providing services to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in the Merrimack Valley area. Her most recent work experience includes being the Regional Field Director for Juana Matias for Congress (2017-2018), Field Organizer for Juana Matias for State Representative (2015-2016) and Field Organizer for Elizabeth Warren (2012-2013). Marina is delighted to be a part of Senator Finegold’s team and is committed to serving the people of the 2nd Essex & Middlesex. In this role, she will meet with constituents in the district, hold office hours, staff the Senator at local events, and help resolve constituent cases.
