Located in Middlesex County, the Town of Tewksbury had nearly 29,000 residents in the 2000 Census. First settled in 1637, it was named after the town of Tewkesbury, England. Barry Finegold represents Pcts 3 and 3A. Tewksbury is governed by open town meeting, a board of selectmen, and a town manager. Two rivers, the Merrimack and the Shawsheen, board and run through the town respectively. Anne Sullivan, tutor and companion of Helen Keller was once a Tewksbury resident. Senator Susan Tucker is the State Senator, while Niki Tsongas represents the town in the US Congress.
