Located in Essex County, the Town of Andover was founded by early English setters in 1646. The population at the time of the official 2000 census was 31,247. Situated on the Merrimack River, Andover was a textile center in the early 19th Century. Barry Finegold represents Andover Precincts 2-6, and 9. The town is well-known as the home of Phillips Andover Academy, but also hosts Raytheon, Philips Electronics, Wyeth BioPharma, Putnam Investments, Vicor, Verizon, Compaq, Gillette, Smith-Nephew, and Comverse Network Systems as major area employers. While living and raising his family in Andover, Barry Finegold shares in representing the town with fellow Andover resident State Representative Barbara L’Italien, who also represents parts of Georgetown, Haverhill, Methuen and North Andover.
