Governor Patrick Announces New Department of Housing & Community Development Awards |

I was excited to see that Governor Patrick included the Saunders School Project in the list of projects being awarded grants by the Department of Housing & Community Development this morning. This award will allow the Peabody Supportive Housing LLC to use the $1.3 million in DHCD subsidies and $347,982 in federal tax credits to produce 16 units all targeted to homeless families for the Lawrence community. Affordable rental housing is such an important element of a balanced housing policy and I am pleased to see funds being allocated towards making rental units available for residents in the City of Lawrence. It’s crucial during these tough times that we put additional funds towards safe, affordable housing – and this money will go a long way towards achieving this goal. |
